It has been a few months since we made the big move, bringing our studio into a quieter neighborhood and a building that is laid out perfectly for our needs. As moves go, it was a fun one. The new building needed a lot of cleaning and even more decorating to give it that personal S&C flare, but many hours and lots of paint later we have moved in and are settling in nicely.
The new building is also allowing us the freedom to revamp and refocus some of our business. The studio area is much roomier for commercial photography and we have already had 3 separate sets running at one time. Also, the overhead door not only gives us a lot of fresh air during nice weather, but allows us to get large products into the studio and load up the car for location shoots far easier than our downtown location.
One of our favorite parts of this studio is the darkroom. Shannon has built a little oasis in the back and we have been acquiring everything we need to get a fully functional darkroom back into our lives. Two 4×5 enlargers, a large sink, and all of the little pieces needed are now in place and we are at 100% operations in it. It’s one of the best darkroom layouts either of us have seen in our careers and we are happy to be able to regress back into traditional photography for our artwork. The hand-printed by artist photographs are streaming out of the dark and will be available for sale soon on new online outlets. We are also working on a new portfolio release of our personal work.
On to the fun part, the big reveal of the studio…
